AMT has been involved in the development of many microwave processes for industry, some of these are listed below;

  • Vegetable Blanching Process (Australia 2008-9, 30kW) – design and development of a vegetable blanching process.

  • Animal Stunning (Australia 2009 - current, 30kW) – development of a process for the humane stunning of sheep and cattle

  • Microvac Process ( Australia 2007, 40kW) A process for the recovery of oil and carbon from rubber tyres

  • Continuous Fruit Cooker (Australia 2007, 40kW) design and development of a continuous system for cooking fruit in jars.

  • Building Panel Dryer(Australia, 2006, 100kW) – design and development of a continuous system for processing building panels.

  • EAF Dust Smelter (Australia 2003- current, 200kW ) – design and development of a high temperature process for the recovery of zinc from Electric Arc Furnace Dust.

  • Wool Bale Warmer (Italy 2000-04 60&75KW, Czech Republic 2001 100kW) - design, construction and installation of fully automated microwave wool bale-processing lines. [more]

  • Packaging Processor ( New Zealand 2003 20kW) - design , construction of a high power density microwave system for producing a starch based packaging system.

  • Vending Machine(Australia 2002) – designed and developed the microwave cavity system for thawing and heating pies.

  • Super Conductor Coil Winder (Australia 2002) - Design, construction and installation of a coil winding machine for high temperature Super-conducting tape.

  • Rotary Dryer/roaster (Australia 2003,5,6,7) – design , developed and constructed system for drying/roasting granular products.

  • Timber processing system (Australia 2000, 24kW) – system developed and constructed for warming timber kitchen doors, prior to laminating

  • Wool Bale Strap Remover (Australia 2001) - Development of a machine to automatically remove and dump steel strapping around wool bales.

  • Chemical Processing (South Africa 1999 75kW) Assisted in the development and supplied a 75kW microwave chemical processing system for de-polymerisation of PMMA.

  • Ceramic Ware Mould Drier (Australia 1998 105kW) - Design and construction of a 105kW automatic microwave system for the production of sanitary ware products.

  • Fat Melters (Australia 2000) - Microwave systems for fat melting in the confectionery industry.

  • Rubber volcanisation system (Australia 1997) – microwave system and dwell oven for processing extruded rubber.

Dozens of R & D projects from drying to high temperature smelting.

Rapid Growth
The fastest growing area for industrial microwave and rf applications during the 90's was in plasma processing.

This growth has now abated and could be taken over by chemical applications during the 00's if commercial scale-up can be achieved.
