Broad Catagories of Microwave Application
There are three main areas of microwave application. The critical difference between each is the output power and how this impacts design:
•sensing(milliwatts)
•communications(watts)
•heating(kilowatts)

Heating applications can range from 1kW to 1MW, however the largest single magnetron is 100kW and multiple units are needed for high power applications.
